Solsonica S.p.A. the EEMS Group Company operating in the Photovoltaic Business, announces that has entered into a new contract with Deutsche Solar AG for a multi year supply of polysilicon wafers. Deutsche Solar is one of Europe's largest wafer manufacturers and a subsidiary of SolarWorld AG.
Under the terms of the contract, Deutsche Solar will supply the equivalent of more than 300 Mega Watt of silicon wafers to Solsonica SpA over the period from 2011 to 2018.
This new contract adds on the previous one signed on last June for the supply of about the equivalent of 250 Mega Watt over the period from 2010 to 2017.
The global agreement with Deutsche Solar, in excess of 500 Mega Watt, will give Solsonica a more than adequate coverage in order to better support its production capacity plan in excess of 120 Mega Watt per year starting from 2011.
While actively searching for further wafers supply at competitive prices in order to cover its crystalline cell production, Solsonica is also evaluating the opportunity to install production capacity based on newly-emerging thin-film technologies.
Solsonica recently completed the installation for its first module assembly line, allowing the company to market in the first quarter 2008 its first family of product, Solsonica 610 modules ranging from 200 to 240 Watt, for which has already started commercial relationships with several players in the PV sector.
Additionally, Solsonica will install in first quarter 2008 its first 30 Mega Watt Cell Line with state of the art technologies provided by Centrotherm AG.
